Over the years I’ve gone soft for Xmas, it wasn’t that long ago that I was a real Grinch, and would ban my kids from even mentioning the ‘C’ word before December. The tree didn’t go up until at least December 14th and the tree was all you got, none of this decorating the whole house and yard business, the kids even bought me Grinch underwear! But now I find myself not only not arguing when hubby suggests putting up the tree straight after thanksgiving but this year I’ve spent a fortune (mostly in saved up Target gift cards) on decorations not only for the tree but for around the house and outside too, I can only surmise that it must be an age thing lol
So with that said, I thought I might give you a quick low down of my favorite decor buys this year 🙂
Mason Jars & Light Up Xmas Wooden Xmas Tree
These cute little tea light mason jars look lovely on my dining room buffet next to the light up wooden tree, I snagged both these on sale at Michael’s. You may also notice that there’s been a few changes in my dining room from these pics, there will be a new post soon showing off my newly decorated dining room, I’ll keep you posted.
This has been on my ‘to do’ list for a while now, I love the look of the old scruffy wooden window frame and for this I just added spray snow and a white twig wreath that was another bargain from the Thanksgiving sales.
Remember this tray from my other decor post? I was at a loss what to do with it, in the end I went for some of the suggestions to use it as a center piece with Xmas decor and I added some lights to the large bottle, think it looks OK this time?
Again with my ‘to-do’ list, this should have been finished weeks ago but its only just now done, a simple project with a painted piece of wood and a vinyl decal attached to add a little color to this corner.
And finally, the tree! Its only in recent years that we’ve had a real tree and I have to say that I love it, the smell is amazing, especially as we have it placed near the hot air vent and it wafts all around the downstairs of the house. This year I decided to scrap the old decorations and do a proper grown up tree, all of my previous trees have had help from the kids and eventually look like the Xmas fairy has thrown up on the tree, glitter and colors everywhere (and majorly upset kiddo’s when they realize I’d rearranged their work during the night). Not this year, this year was my year to have a beautiful tree, and I think I did a half decent job, I love the lack of tinsel and colored lights as well as the awesome tin cover for the Xmas tree stand 😉 what do you guys think?
*Update – Putting the tree near the air vent turned out to be not such a great idea as it has majorly dried up the tree, like duh! I really should of thought of that lol
